How to Connect the AMS 2 Pro to Bambu Lab H2D and H2S: Dual-Nozzle & Power Rules

Published August 24, 2026

Researched guide

The Bambu Lab H2D and H2S have a built-in filament buffer and can power one AMS 2 Pro for drying directly over the 6-pin cable without an external power adapter. Because the H2D has dual extruders, you must run 'AMS Setup -> Auto Mode' on the screen after connecting so the Hall sensors detect whether the AMS is routed to the left or right nozzle. How this guide was made

The Bambu Lab H2D and H2S were designed alongside the AMS 2 Pro, meaning they do not require the external filament buffer or single-unit power adapter needed on older X1 and P1 machines. This guide summarizes Bambu Lab’s official H2-series workflow and multi-AMS connection guides as of October 25, 2026.

Step-by-step H2D dual-extruder initialization

Because the H2D has two extruders (left and right), the printer must detect which nozzle your AMS 2 Pro PTFE tube is connected to before your first print:

  1. Connect the PTFE tube and new 6-pin cable. Plug the 6-pin cable (2.5 mm step height) into the AMS 2 Pro and the H2D, and route the PTFE tube into the upper or lower nozzle inlet path.
  2. Prepare the slots. Make sure at least one filament spool is inserted into any slot of the AMS 2 Pro, that any previously loaded filament is unloaded, and that no broken filament pieces remain inside the built-in buffer.
  3. Run Auto Mode Initialization. On the H2D touchscreen, go to Filament -> AMS Setup -> Auto Mode (or Manual Mode).
  4. How detection works: The AMS 2 Pro feeds filament forward until it triggers the Hall sensor inside either the left or right extruder, automatically pairing that AMS unit with the correct nozzle.

Connecting 2 to 4+ AMS 2 Pro units on H2D/H2S

  • 2 AMS 2 Pro units on H2D: You can route one AMS 2 Pro to the left nozzle and the second AMS 2 Pro to the right nozzle with no extra adapters.
  • 3 or more AMS 2 Pro units: Buy the Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter to merge up to 4 AMS units onto a single nozzle path.
